What a smart bird! UPDATE 9/20: Sadly, I had to lock up their cage doors. The blue one, the only male in this family, was eaten by a hawk/wolf/disgusting animal because he never went back inside his cage. (Though only this green one could open the cage door, she would open it for other birds, too, to let them out. The blue one never made it back home…) Final update, 1/2007 all the birds have died, including the mommy bird i owned for seven great years. rest in peace, this video is the only and last i have of them.

The Bird Cage … ( Pigeon Proof Bird Feeder ) … Due to recent problems with pigeons getting on to my bird feeders I decided to invest in this “Bird Cage”. I initially thought the gaps were going to be too small for the bullfinches to fit through, but I’m pleased to say I had no need to be concerned. Not my usual type of video but I have been looking for a large bird house for a while now for my 2 rescue canaries. I dont like the word ‘cage’ too much, but these little guys need a nice spacious home to live in. I figured it was just easier to make one myself to the exact size I wanted. I am not a builder and only had VERY basic tools! Its not perfect but Im happy with it. The birdhouse now has a bath and a lot more different sized perches to exercise their feet and a different lock for the door. I forgot to mention in the video- but make sure to WASH the entire thing thoroughly before introducing your birds into the cage. The wire mesh needs to be washed very well and make sure your birds nails are trimmed regularly.
